Diamond Quest Camp Journal

United Parachute Club, PA, May 23

Old friends and new joined the United Diamonds for DQ practice this Memorial day weekend. A total of 12 CReW dogs showed up for practice including two novices. Camera person Terry Ross, who is new to videoing CReW, joined us with a demo Prodigy 150 in preparation for the record attempts in Dallas.

Saturday turned out to be a gorgeous day. The sun was shining, the temperature was just right and the air was smooth. We made a total of five jumps on Saturday with varying degrees of success. On jump number two, one of the novices earned his CCS by docking tenth as the stinger to a nine way diamond. This novice later docked a row three wing after both the row three wing and lockup missed the dock. Not bad for someone who has never been in an off-set formation before this weekend. He sure owes a lot of beer! Only one of the dives completed but everybody was having fun and improving their skills.

We were greeted with low clouds and rain on Sunday. The weather was a complete opposite from Saturday. I guess the guys in Dallas decided it was our turn to get bad weather. We didn't get any jumps in Sunday, but everyone headed home in good spirits and we're looking forward to the next DQ practice!
